Meet the Author
Kat Merrill writes Tidewoven, a long-form story set along the Pacific Northwest coast, where grief, loyalty, and found family move like weather.
Some stories arrive as ideas. This one arrived as pressure.
Tidewoven began as a question and refused to stay small. It grew across timelines and memory, returning again and again to the same center: Micah Rowe, and the cost of the weight he carries.
She writes slowly and structurally, letting emotion lead and systems follow. Not to chase trends. Not to flatten intensity. But to follow Micah where his story insists on going.
Because tenderness is not weakness. Because loyalty is complicated. Because grief does not disappear simply because we want it to.
Two promises guide the work:
It will not rush what needs to be earned.
It will not smooth the truth to make it easier to consume.
If you are drawn to character depth, quiet intensity, and the slow shift of a life under strain, you are in the right place.

When she is not writing, she is usually walking, listening to the same song on repeat, or staring at water. All of it counts as research.

Music shapes how she writes Tidewoven. The Rising Tide is the playlist that lives closest to Micah and the sea.
